OBH is an Affiliated Riding Club

We already have a full range of activities lined up for 2015, some of them new, with details of the first few in the newsletter. The club’s annual booklet will, hopefully, be distributed to every member in January and it will contain further information about all aspects of the club’s year. In addition keep an eye on our website, on regular emails and posts on Facebook.

Two new BRC competitions have been added to the calendar for 2015 – Intermediate Show Jumping and Intermediate Dressage. Our Team Managers are sorting out teams already and again full details follow.

Anyone about to buy a new riding hat take heed. We have been warned that there will be changes to the riding hat standards allowed in BRC Qualifiers and Championships starting in January 2016. For more details see the Teams section of the Newsletter.

Wishing to you all a happy and healthy New Year!

The OBH Riding Club was started in 1948 by members of the Old Berkeley Hunt who wanted to ride together in the summer. Colonel Phipps was a founding member and we still award the Phipps trophy, a very beautiful, mounted hunting horn, to the member accruing the most points throughout the year.&

We welcome members from the age of 18 and the club caters for a wide range of disciplines. We run open competitions which anyone can enter, from a showing show through to a one day event, and a series of members shows.

The club offers training at all levels for flatwork, Cross Country and Show Jumping. We encourage a social aspect to the club as well, with an annual quiz and sometimes a BBQ at the members’ events, while people wait for results. The OBHRC is affiliated to the BHS via British Riding Clubs. We send teams to all sorts and levels of qualifiers, drawn from whoever is interested. If you would like to have a go at any team competition, BRC or otherwise, please let us know. The club affiliation also gives you a BRC membership number and entitles you to Rider magazine, a national championship structure in several disciplines, easy access to advice and information, third party insurance at club events and various discounts.

Please join us whatever you want to do! (Click here for membership application.) We are a friendly club and want to encourage members to participate in training, competitions and teams at all levels.
